RSS as an internet marketing tool

In the past, internet marketers have frequently debated on whether RSS was a friend or a foe of business bloggers. Sure, the orange icon was cute and enticing but when your readers use RSS, your web design no longer matters. So does advertising. Okay, maybe not advertising since FeedBurner already allows advertising on their RSS.

Nowadays, however, it is a given fact that RSS is important. RSS, for those who don’t know yet, stands for Really Simple Syndication. As the name implies, it simplifies syndication! Your readers can now get constant updates about your site or read about your most recent blog posts without worrying about spam or clutter in their bookmarks toolbar. Now, you no longer have to remember the URL of the site you want to visit because all you need to do is subscribe with an RSS reader and you can already read about the latest and most interesting information on the web.

Today, a lot of bloggers use RSS as a viral marketing strategy. Through RSS, readers can now manage their subscription, so they tell your site where they want the updates to be sent to – a reader or through email? Now they have better control of the process and if they are really interested with what you have to offer, they will have the information delivered somewhere it is easily accessible. It means that the more subscribers you have, the greater chances you have of making a sale.
